"Brooklyn Gang" was Bruce Davidson's 1959 photographic study of a Brooklyn teenage gang who called themselves The Jokers. It acts as a documentation of teenage life during the 1950s and exposes the dark side of a supposedly innocent time period.

Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony

Say "hello" to Miss Sevigny's Pre-Spring 2011 line for the U.S store Opening Ceremony.

The mix-and-match collection comprises five prints - polka dot, paisley, houndstooth, floral, and leopard - in five silhouettes and although the collection is heavy on short, layerable dresses, the five prints are also splashed across jackets, Fogal tights, berets, totes, and handbags. Think of the 90s - chunky laced up boots, leather trousers, big shouldered tea dresses.

I'm just a bit down about the attached price tag (not suitable for students) and the fact these pretty creations belong state-side. The line should be seen in stores around December.

Good news.

So the other day I received an email from the Manchester Fashion Network announcing that I had won a competition that I had entered a while ago to win £100 worth of ARK vouchers. I couldn't believe it, mainly because I completely forgot that entered that competition and so it was a nice surprise, also I have the worst luck and I never win anything (yeah that's what everyone says when they win but I am serious) I've not yet been sent the code which I need to enter on the website to receive my £100 worth of vouchers but I hope they hurry up because I fancied getting some clothes for my holiday to Portugal (I go in 2 weeks!!)

I've been browsing their online site and found a few goodies to put on my shopping list:

That makes a grand total of £106.95, hmm either I drop an item from my list (I'm not sure about the first dress, I think it looks a little 'scrubs') or do I beg mother dearest to pay the mere £6.95 extra?

Renew.

My wardrobe isn't lacking clothes, it's just lacking clothes that I like! Over the years (those where fashion has been a meaningful part of my life) it seems I have wasted money that I didn't have to waste on unsightly and dull items of clothing, probably with the intention that they'd come back into fashion or that they'd do for summer days when it's too hot to even give a care. But half of my wardrobe is hardly ever touched, I found an All Saints skirt a while back with it's tag still intact - I didn't even realise I shopped there. I think what's in order is a major clearout but I find it so hard to part with my beloved garments. My theory is that if I had more money to spend, i'd be a lot more ruthless. But I don't have money to spend, so instead I shall renew these old clothes and make them look 100% better, i'm sure Viv would be impressed.

This morning, I went to see if I could salvage anything pretty to wear in my tiny hole-in-the-wall pathetic excuse for a wardrobe! Bunched in a corner, on a battered hanger sat a navy A-line skirt which I think I bought from Primark back in the day when I saw that shop as acceptable for basics. I completely forgot about this and forgot how cute it is - very 1940s - and it's not often I say that about things from P-P-P I can't bring myself round to say it. And this is precisely why I am against throwing out 'old' clothes. I dressed it up with my over-sized shades and a leopard print vest and to complete the 1940s military look I wore my army jacket (it's actually my friend's, and one day he'll get it back, promise)

I will try and post again soon, the amount of drafts in my post list is unbelievable, I start one thing, see something else to post, then forget about the previous post. My college fashion show that i'm organising with two of my friends is tomorrow night so i've been rushed of my feet the past couple of weeks but i'll be on here soon posting photos of the night and telling you all how fabulous it was and how proud I am of myself. I also have my English exam next week and i'm pooing myself, I need all the luck I can get. I apologise for my lame excuses?

not impressed.

'The Affordable Vintage Fair' returned to Liverpool on Saturday and I had high expectations as the previous times I have attended I've come home with bags filled with goodies. However this was not the case on this occasion. The room was so bare, there was half the amount of stalls that were at the last fair and I was disheartened to see that the cute, geordie, vintage-selling couple I had become accustomed to were not there. Crappy food stalls had replaced previously located jewelry stands and to be honest the quality of the items had declined, I wouldn't call them vintage chic but second-hand rags.

Despite the disappointment of the fair, I managed to pull myself together and headed to Liverpool One to see what the high-street had to offer. I never thought I'd see the day that i'd be resorting in mass produced garments over one-off vintage(ish) pieces - however my shopping trip proved a success! You may remember me saying a while ago that I wanted a pair of floral trousers, WELL, I found some:

Beautiful aren't they? I love the contrast of the black and the deep red of the roses, I feel like spring has bloomed on my legs. 

I was on a find-as-many-bargains-as-possible rampage when I got home - after that darling purchase - searching the internet far and wide for something even cuter and cheaper. I think I must have had floral pants on my mind because I ended up buying a pair of ditsy printed "hareem" (they were titled as this but the crotch sag is a mere 2 inches) from New Look! I know, New Look of all places, it's one of my least favourite high-street shops and apologies go out to fans of the shop, but I have to admit, occasionly I will have a browse online to see whether there's anything worthy of wearing. Sorry to blab on, where was I? These lovely pants, that i'm currently wearing due to their sheer comfiness, and that's not the only thing that persuaded me to buy them, THEY WERE ONLY £4!!!! (with silly postage/packaging the total did come to something like £7) now that's what I call a 'Bargain of a Century'. My wise words to you are: browse the web looking at shops you usually turn your nose up at, you may be surprised at what wonders you find.

Busy.

I just can't seem to concentrate lately, I mean i'm even struggling with writing this post, so I apologise for my terrible use of English (my tutor would not be impressed) I don't know whether i'm over tired - that's what parents always blame it on - or whether i've just got myself stressed? I've been doing my best to revise for English but I just wish I was a little more focussed, and I have my college's anual fashion show to organise, then there's the pressure of trying to find a job (I don't particularly want one, but the parents wont stop moaning about that either) and ahhh I just can't cope. Maybe I should try yoga or meditation, or maybe I should just say no to peoples demands.

It was my friends birthday the other day (hello George) and so me and the girls went for a meal last night to celebrate. I love seeing them and sharing laughs and i'm worried that once they've gone to Uni they'll forget about their little Katy and the fun times we've had. Luckily a few are staying home or doing Art Foundation, as I am, but I did find out last night that one dear friend will be moving to Mexico for a year, and I was terribly upset to hear this. But on the possitive side, a few holiday to Mexico may be in order, and I know she'll be happy with her family.

This blog has no real relevance to anyone reading, it's just a load of my personal crap, but I want to share it with you.

So, onto some more irrelevant information...next on my shopping list is a pair a Dr Martens. Nope, not that pair of cherry red 1461's I proclaimed I wanted a while ago so I could pretend I was Amélie Poulain, a clompy pair of DM chelsea boots is what I really want. A shopping trip is in order! This ought to sort out my stress/frustration/confusion.
