lovely boots.

So, it's my birthday in 68 days (3rd April, I may have mis-counted) and i'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of these black beauties. I've added them to my birthday list, which atm seems never ending, so if mummy and daddy dearest are feeling nice i'll be wearing them in 68 days and for the rest of my youth if i'm lucky. Don't be fooled by the name however, I don't see myself doing much hiking in the future.

Crepe Hiking Boot - £75 - URBAN OUTFITTERS

My Birthday list so far consists of:

Provisional licence
Polaroid camera (+ film)
Vinatge army style jacket/coat
These boots
Money (bring on the vintage fair)
I've seen lots of little things when browsing the shops that have also taken my fancy!

Pleasant post

So I went to collect the post this morning and much to my delight a small squashy package sat there with my name on it. I hardly ever get post so I knew that it was either a present from my boyfriend (he knows I love recieving post) or was it that divine American Apparel purchase? It wasn't expected for another 2 days, but it was most likely to be the second one. I tore open the packaging and there it sat, my little black sexy mesh number. It's been long awaited so why not throw it on and wear it today. I styled it with my American Apparel stripy skater skirt, my brown vintage boots and a black bra (not too revealing though,  nipple coverage is a must!)

Ok, so I don't think i'll be wearing it alone anytime soon. But i'll be modeling it at any opportuity I can.

my most recent out and abouting adventure

The large plate seemed so unnecessary...

but the lights were pretty.

Then I went for a splash in the fountain.

We decided to show of our skills at the bowling alley. My boyfriend won, can you tell by his "winners" face?

I wished him congratulations with a slush. mmmmm.

and he treated me to nuggets. mmmmm. This is our nugget man, I called him Clive.

CUPCAKES ARE SO LAST YEAR.

Say hello to the hubmle whoopie pie.

What is it? The classic woopie consists of two chocolate cake pillows sandwiched around vanilla cream. The American food fad arrives in Britain, and I can't wait to get my hands on one. I'll be heading down to Harrods to try their own versions of the rustic treat, from pumpkin flavour to red velvet. Mmmm indeed!

People's Choice Awards 2010

It was the fashion I was waiting to see at the People's Choice Awards more than the results (however True Blood did pick up the award for favorite TV obsession much to my delight) Not everyone made the right choice however. Here's a run up of the hot, and the some what not red carpet season openers.
Contenders for 'Best dressed':
'Grecian Goddess' was the hottest trend at this years People Choice. With one strap gowns like Taraji P. Henson's flattering lilac dress by Alberta Ferretti to the sleek and sexy which we saw from Diane Kruger rocking the red carpet in Hervé Léger.

Best dressed 2010

But for me it was Kate Walsh's vintage sequin number that dazzled (literally). Simple yet sophsicated. Timeless but trendy. It ticked all the boxes. And when announcing that her little gold dress held no label or designer, she stunned all. Walsh made the right choice (giving credit to her stylist) pairing the decadent mini with chunky wooden heeled platforms.

Contenders for 'Worst dressed':

Ill-fitted and odly accessorised?! These are 5 dresses I just wasn't feeling. You can see for yourself why I came to these nominations.

Worst dressed 2010
What was Francia Raisa thinking? The 'Bring It On' actress wasn't bringing anything to the red carpet at the 2010 award show. Quite frankly she looked like a meringue, covered from neck to knee in white organza, and if the overload of fabric wasn't enough the high neck and elasticated bottom we're so unflattering.

My answer to the festive yule log.

Wooden heels are a summer staple and the cult classic has returned to the Spring/Summer catwalks 2010, and is proven to be one of the hottest trends next season. I know we've still not got through the winter and already we're talking about summer, but in the words of la Wintour “Fashion isn’t about looking back, it’s always about looking forward”. I've been a fan of this retro trend for a long time, it's such a timeless piece, and for me it shouldn't just be kept for the sun. A chunky platform paired with neutral cloured woolen tights are the perfect blend for these chilly winter days. From Cavalli to Miu Miu, any designer of note was parading the wooden heel however putting an avant-garde twist on it. Alberta Ferretti reinvented the ordinary with fine leather detailing atop an inverted wooden wedge (below: image 4) And the shoes at Celine were tall wooden wedges which add height whilst having the foot inclined only at a low angle. There are no set rules here, there are tons of ways to wear the wood, just be brave and have fun!

(Top to bottom: Celine, Roberto Cavalli, Max Azria, Alberta Ferretti)

Ok, lets be realistic, I doubt i'll be splashing my Christmas cash (what little I have left of it) on these sandals which breaks my heart as I already had an outfit planned to accompany them. But don't fret you wooden heel lovers, the highstreet once again is our saviour! I found these little beauts on the Topshop website and instantly fell in love (again). At a reasonable price and with a timeless style I know i'll get my walk out of them. Any of these will do - whether it be Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn!

The dark chunky wood paired with the delicate designs and pastel shades create a match made in heaven. Wear with black opaque tights (40 denier +) and rich fabrics such as crushed velvet, cashmere or lace for a bang on trend effortless look.

TWENTY-TEN.

This is the start of a new decade and although the past year has been a personal favourite, helped by a few new experiences I can add to the list, I don't want to dwell too much. The happiness 2009 brought me will stay sacred forever. One thing I regret doing however which has followed me through to the beginning of this year is the lack of motivation I had towards Bright Young Things. It was a shame this happened but i'm ready to start again. New year, new blog! I promise to provide a savvy splendour for the fashion conscious busting at the seams with red hot trends and style tips, visual treats and a regular update of my life (i'll try to make it as interesting as possible)

I don't usually make resolutions, but I see no harm. My first will be to conjure up a list of plausable new years resolutions (easy to keep ones)

New Year's resolutions:

1) Make a list of resolutions
2) Get a job (in urgent need of a shoe fund)
3) Music geek? yes please! in other words attend the maximum amount of gigs/parties my liver and bank account will allow
4) Stop being so hasty
5) STAY DEDICATED AND LOYAL TO THIS BLOG!

Are you ready for Twenty-Ten?
