Festival Frenzy

The festival season's well and truely in swing and festival fashion finders are working harder than ever this year with Coachella, Isle of White and Glastonbury just passed. Luckily the sun has graced us this year - temperatures soared to 21 degrees C at Glasto - so it's been all about the dresses and shorts, mind you the rain never stopped anyone flashing their legs before. Here's a round up of the celebrity fashion at Glastonbury 2010:
Alexa Chung

Florence Welch; Coco Sumner

Emma Watson

Jamie Winstone; Henry Holland

Jameela Jamil; Kate Hudson

Kate Nash; Paloma Faith

Kelly Osbourne; Pixie Geldof

So, what should you wear? Festivals are the perfect opportunity to be wild and express your inner style. Wear whatever you feel comfortable and confident in (i'm not talking jogging pants and flip-flop comfortable) and this doesn't necessarily mean attracting the most attention a la Paloma Faith in her pineapple number. Here's a guide to some items you should consider cramming into your backpack:

Denim Shorts: as seen on Alexa, Kate Nash, Emma Watson. I recommend light denim worn with bare legs, tights are a festival no-no come rain or shine!
                                                                                                                             Acne at Matches £85

Ankle Boots: Forget wellies, invest in a pair of ankle boots. Consider Doc Marten's, hiking boots (Pixie Geldof) or some heeled vintage ankle boots (no higher than 3 inches)
                          Asos £42

White Shirt: A timeless classic prooving that simple does not have to mean boring. It'll keep you cool in the sun and if the rain hits, throw on a parka. Button up all the way and roll down the sleeves (Coco Sumner does this perfectly)
                                                                                                                               Urban Outfitters £45

Sunglasses: This year be seen in Wayfarers, small round frames or cats eye sunglasses. A stylish pair of sunnies will hide any bags or signs of a hangover.
                      Asos £10

Floaty Dress: Let's channel our inner hippie and go all out in a floaty white maxi-dress as our Florence did at Glasto this year.
                                                                                                                                      New Look £35

Army Jacket: The military look is BIG this season and if the sun decides not to shine at your festival, then an army jacket will keep you dry and warm and looking stylish.

               Topshop £65

The Bag: The worst thing is taking a bag so big that you can't move in the crowd and so big that you're knocking the person next to you out whenever you bounce in the air to your favourite songs. But anything too small wont hold all your 'essential' items (camera, lipstick, drink, toilet paper) A medium sized X-body bag is ideal as it will sit securely on your shoulder, and aim to get one with a zip to avoid money grabbers.
                                                                                                                               Urban Outfitters £32

Tomorrow i'll be going to Hop Farm festival in Kent, i've not even started packing yet so i'll have to do that as soon as a finish writing this post. I'm praying that the weather's nice so I can wear my little vintage boots rather than my big clumsy wellies. I'll make sure to take lots of photos and post them asap.
Happy Festival going!
